Preliminary Round of IOAI Hong Kong Selection Contest Concludes Successfully
Over 800 Students Participated, Approximately 100 Advance to Semi-Finals
The preliminary round of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) Hong Kong Selection Contest has recently concluded successfully, with the official results now announced. This year's competition has seen an unprecedented level of enthusiasm, attracting over 1,200 students to promotional and training events, with more than 800 students registering for the preliminary round—setting a new record in participation.
The selection contest featured an intensive format, comprising four rounds designed to comprehensively assess participants' theoretical knowledge and practical application skills in artificial intelligence and algorithms. Following rigorous evaluation, approximately 100 outstanding students have successfully advanced, earning their qualification to proceed to the next stage—the Semi-Finals.
The Semi-Finals have been scheduled for January 31, 2026, and will be held at Ying Wa College. The advancing students will face more challenging tasks as they compete for the coveted spots to represent Hong Kong in the International Final.
The significant increase in participation reflects the growing interest and rising competitive standards among local students in the field of artificial intelligence. Congratulations to all advancing students and look forward to seeing them demonstrate continued innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities in the Semi-Finals.

Last year, IOAI (Hong Kong) and AiTLE collaborated to organize the "(IOAI) - 2025 Hong Kong Team Selection Competition." Numerous schools registered, and after several rounds of screening, eight students were selected to represent Hong Kong at the IOAI 2025 World Competition. These students were well-prepared and achieved excellent results (including one gold medal, one silver medal, two bronze medals, and three honorary nominations). This year, IOAI (Hong Kong) is collaborating again with AiTLE to organize the "(IOAI) - 2026 Hong Kong Team Selection Competition." The goal is to carefully select a Hong Kong team through training and competition, enabling them to excel in the International Olympiad of Artificial Intelligence (IOAI). Actively encourage and educate students to master AI knowledge and cultivate their ability to use and improve AI technology.
